The Wooster Brush Company Names 10th President

WOOSTER, Ohio—The Wooster Brush Company’s board of directors has elected Ben Maibach to succeed Bill Fagert as the company’s 10th president, effective May 1, 2020. At the same time, Bill Fagert, president since 2010, will become vice chairman of the board of directors. Since joining Wooster Brush in 2014, Ben has served as vice president of national accounts, held a seat on the company’s board of directors, and most recently led the team overseeing Wooster’s rebranding efforts. Ben brings over 20 years of sales and marketing experience to his new role including time as vice president of sales at Waxman Consumer Group as well as multiple sales and marketing roles while at Moen and Newell Rubbermaid. A life-long resident of the company’s namesake city, Ben is a graduate of both Wooster High School and The College of Wooster. He and his wife, Courtney, have been married for 11 years; together they have three children: Benny, Bo, and Cecily. They enjoy spending time together as a family and attending Smithville Brethren Church. Ben serves on the Wooster City School Board Business Advisory Council and is also an Ohuddle Mentor. “On behalf of all our employees, we want to thank Bill for his leadership over the past decade,” Maibach said. “Following Bill as the next president is quite an honor, but we both agree that the success of Wooster Brush has never been about one person. The combined efforts of our 600+ dedicated employees will always be what makes our company great.” As part of this transition, Bill will maintain certain administrative and financial responsibilities while he continues to assist and mentor Ben in his new role. Bill joined The Wooster Brush Company in 1985 and served as the company’s vice president of finance before becoming president. Fagert said, “Ben is the right guy at the right time. He is a bright, proactive, optimistic leader with the skill sets to take Wooster Brush to new, higher levels. Ben has often been involved behind the scenes and is well prepared for his new role.” Scott Rutledge, vice president of marketing, will also be expanding his role as a result of this leadership change. As of May 1, Rutledge will become the new senior vice president of sales and marketing. Scott brings 29 years of Wooster Brush experience to his new position.

A favorite of painters for over 50 years, Wooster Super/Fab rollers offer fast, complete coverage with all flat, eggshell, or satin paints, stains, and waterproofing coatings. Wooster’s Jumbo-Koter miniroller program is famous for utilizing the same fabrics found on Wooster’s full-size rollers. A leader in paint applicator innovation, Wooster has been developing tools designed to meet or even exceed the needs of painters for nearly 170 years. This new look refreshes the Wooster brand, offering a cohesive strategy at retail across all channels. Wooster Announces an Extra High-Capacity Polyamide Roller Cover Line

WOOSTER, Ohio – The Wooster Brush Company is proud to announce Cirrus X, a new polyamide yarn roller cover, to their product offering. These rollers feature a European polyamide yarn fabric that’s soft, resilient, easy to load, and holds a lot of paint. New Cirrus X polyamide yarn roller covers are designed with extra capacity and durability to help tackle rough and even extra-rough surfaces. They are great for applying base and finish coats, as well as, back rolling textured surfaces such as stucco or brick. Use these new roller covers with all flat, eggshell, and satin paints to achieve fast and complete coverage. Cirrus X rollers have a green marbled look and will be available in 9-, 14-, and 18-inch sizes in ¾” (catalog number: R185) and 1” (catalog number: R186) nap heights for rough to extra-rough surfaces. The original Cirrus roller covers will still be produced with their original green stripe and are available in 9-, 14-, and 18-inch sizes in ½” (catalog number: R194) and ¾” (catalog number: R195) nap heights which makes them great for semi-rough to rough surfaces.

Wooster Unveils New Ultra/Pro® Firm Paintbrush Variety 3-Pack

WOOSTER, Ohio—The Wooster Brush Company is proud to announce that one of their most popular paintbrush lines—Ultra/Pro^® Firm—has grown to include a new variety 3-pack. The Wooster 4188 includes one thin angle sash brush (catalog number 4181-1”), one angle sash brush (catalog number 4174-1½”), and one varnish-style brush (catalog number 4176-2”) all conveniently packaged in a resealable clamshell. When the Wooster Ultra/Pro product line was launched in 1985, these new synthetic brushes were unlike any other on the market. They had shorter filaments that offered more efficient paint coverage and better cut-in control. Fast-forward nearly 35 years, and even with all the changes in coatings over the last few decades, Wooster Ultra/Pro^® paintbrushes are still one of the most successful and imitated brushes on the market. In fact, the only way that the brushes have changed is by incorporating improved tipping processes to reduce drag. The Wooster Brush Company Celebrates 2019 Service Awards

Over 470 current employees, retirees and their guests gathered at The College of Wooster Lowry Center on March 16 to celebrate The Wooster Brush Company’s annual service awards. Bill Fagert, company president, and Keith Hancock, vice president of production, presented the tributes. Stephanie Martinez, human resource specialist, served as master of ceremonies. Carleigh Velasques gave the invocation. The theme for the evening’s event was, “Journeys of Excellence.” “We are focusing on each awardee and the journeys that lead them to where they are today at The Wooster Brush Company,” Martinez said in a news release. “Those we honor this year have dedicated a range of 15 to 50 years of service to one company, and that is truly an act of excellence. It is wonderful to have the time and resources to acknowledge each of them for their remarkable achievements.” Wooster Brush honored 65 employees with anniversaries in each of celebrated milestones of 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45 and 50 years at the awards banquet. Each attendee of the event received a travel umbrella that displays the company logo when opened. Twenty-five years of service is a special milestone at The Wooster Brush Company. The following individuals are the newest members to join Wooster Brush’s prestigious 25-year club: Ed Amstutz, Glenda Cicconetti, Kelly Durieux, Rob Easterday, Joni Faught, Karen Hood, Jose Marques Jr., Carla Oxenrider, John Skeens and Rod Traver. These new members bring Wooster’s active 25-year club member count to 133; the current number of retired 25-year club members is 177. As a special thanks, employees celebrating 25 years received an engraved watch or clock personally chosen by the recipient, an engraved paintbrush in a display case, a personalized paint roller, a certificate for a photo-portrait and a stadium blanket woven with the 25-year emblem. On Saturday, Wooster Brush also paid tribute to Jerry Barnes for reaching the historic milestone of 50 years of service. Barnes, who began his career at Wooster Brush back in 1968, retired on June 30, 2018. The Wooster Brush Company has only had nine presidents over the last 168 years; during Barnes’ 50-year career at Wooster he worked with six of them. Barnes is the 17th employee in Wooster Brush history to achieve this half-century milestone. Ron Flinner and Barney Freeman were both honored for 45 years of service during the “Journeys of Excellence” event. Ten recipients received 40-year awards on Saturday, including Doug Becker, John Boyens, Sharon Harper, Mark Jeffery, Don Orr, Rod Root, Jon Rose, Deb Snell, Larry Ungerer and Glenda Wertz. The 35-year group included four awardees this year: Cindy Becker, Rick Bukovitz, Lyle Rufener and Mike Zimmerman. Celebrating 30 years of service on Saturday night were Cathy Firebaugh, Gary Foltz, Sandra Kosier, Scott Schlauch, Kelly Schlechty and Karen Shaffer. Eighteen individuals celebrated 20 years of service, including Denise Alford, Bob Arnold, Deb Conrad, Pat Corbett, Lori Flinner, Carrie Haberkorn, Bonnie Hixson, Kevin Hookway, Cheryl Klett, Brenda McFadden, Paula Mullins, Anita Nussbaum, Teresa Scott, Angie Shutt, Ray Stryker, Donna Ullom, Jessie Walton and Terry White. Finally, a group of 14 people were acknowledged for their Wooster Brush milestone of 15 years of service Becky Benninger, Joe Boughner, Jay Brenneman, Nick Church, Robin Fries, Denver Hoff, Steph Martinez, Curtis Meade, Patty Moser, Nancy Moses, Larry Ramsier, Sharon Snyder, Dan Waggoner and Joe Wirth. Roughly 650 people are currently employees of The Wooster Brush Company. Because of service records like these, the average length of service for all employees is currently 13 years.
